Special project for a food serving trolley designed for a hospital in Kalmar, Sweden. The project was initiated in 2020, with the first prototype development starting in September 2020. By the end of the year, an approved modification was made, including changes to handle construction. After several adjustments to design, user features, and manufacturing processes, the initial delivery phase was completed in early 2021.
Design:
Crafted from stainless steel AISI 14301 to ensure hygiene, mechanical and chemical resistance, and an extended lifespan. Intended for hospital use to streamline the transport and distribution of hot and cold food. The trolley features an 815 mm body width, designed for easy maneuverability through 900 mm doors. To meet hygiene and cleaning standards, all structural reinforcements are encased in foam within the trolley body.

Product description:
Food storage:
2x 6 GN hot cabinet, 400 W units on the opposite side, heating up to 85 °C in about 20 min., touchscreen controllers.
1x 6 GN cold cabinet, 280 W unit below undercarriage, cooling to 4 °C in about 20 min., touchscreen controller.
40 – 70 mm of PU foam insulation.
Food distribution:
Two 600 W heating plates, controlled by a variable thermostat, are located on the top of the trolley to maintain the right temperature for meals in receptacles during distribution.
The trolley provides two foldable shelves: a short one with a capacity of 20 kg, suitable for storing meal trays, and a long tubular shelf designed for use as a serving counter with a capacity of 30 kg.
Wheels:
200 mm wheels with resistant rubber threads, nylon 6 centers and stainless-steel brackets, 2x fixed, 2 x swivel with foot brake.
Power:
Removable power cord to connect to an earthed electrical socket (230-240 V / 50hz).
Safety:
Undercarriage with a bumper and top handle at each corner ensures protection around the entire perimeter of the trolley in case of impacts.
Static strap eliminates static electricity discharge.
Towing system:
Easy-to-connect drawbar equipped with a gas spring, contributing to the operator’s ergonomic work conditions, along with a tow hook featuring a locking mechanism.
Motorization:
Within the framework of the project, we successfully designed and manufactured a version equipped with battery-powered motorization and a user-friendly controller, facilitating seamless and effortless maneuverability. The implementation included the integration of the IMMO Easygo Duo propulsion system, which enhances the overall performance and operational efficiency of the product. This innovative motorization solution not only ensures a convenient and smooth user experience but also aligns with the latest technological advancements in sustainable and eco-friendly mobility.
